FAQ

Yes, you don’t pay for tuition at Wrocław Tech’s Doctoral School. You also get a doctoral student ID card free of charge.

Important: when talking to a potential supervisor, discuss not only the terms of future cooperation, but also the scope of your responsibilities (also in terms of teaching students, which will be a form of professional practice).

On the fact that you can also pursue courses in topics related to scientific disciplines other than the discipline in which you are preparing your doctorate. In addition – you can also conduct research in different scientific disciplines.

No, classes are organized on a full-time basis and only on weekdays.

You submit your application documents and face an interview.

You will be evaluated on five criteria on a 0-10 point scale:

  • knowledge of English, required at least B2 level (weighting 1),
  • description of the preliminary concept of the dissertation (weighting 1),
  • scientific, research and development activity and other achievements (weighting 4),
  • interview (weighting 4)

You can get a maximum of 100 points.

You need to get at least the minimum point threshold, which is 50 points.

But it doesn’t end there – based on the point scores of candidates, a ranking list is created for each educational discipline. Each discipline has a different number of places for doctoral students. So, your place on the ranking list determines whether you get a doctorate admission.

The amount is determined each year by the rector.

You need to prepare:
  1. Candidate Card for the Doctoral School – you will generate it in the IRK system after you enter the data of the candidate for the promoter and the preliminary topic of the dissertation.
  2. Resume.
  3. A diploma confirming the attainment of a master’s degree, master of engineering or equivalent. In special cases, a statement confirmed by the dean’s office that you have completed your second degree program and plan to graduate before the announced closing date. And if you have exceptional academic achievements and plan to start doctoral studies earlier, you submit a document confirming that you have completed the first degree program or a document confirming that you have completed the third year of a unified master’s degree program.
  4. The grade of the first and second degree or unified studies in the form of a certificate of the weighted average obtained). However, this is the document you need to prepare only for a doctorate in these disciplines:
    • automation, electronics, electrical engineering and space technology,
    • materials engineering,
    • mathematics,
    • chemical sciences,
    • management and quality sciences.

  5. Photo (electronic file).
  6. A synthetic presentation of achievements regarding the candidate’s scientific activity or research and development activities according to the specified format.
  7. A statement from your potential supervisor that he or she will undertake supervising duties, and a declaration from the head of the department where you wish to pursue your dissertation that a research position will be provided for the duration of your dissertation work.
  8. A description of your preliminary dissertation concept.
  9. A document confirming your knowledge of English at the B2 level (e.g., a diploma supplement or a certificate of your B2 reading grade, a language certificate, or any other document in accordance with the recruitment rules).

The primary recruitment usually begins in early May, and the application deadline is early June. Interviews are organized from late June to mid-July.
